Mixed Media, Sculpture, Jewelry
Joliene Marquis had a fortunate upbringing, being surrounded by various artists, designers and craftsmen within her family. Following in their footsteps, she drew, designed clothing and made jewelry. Always a lover of the outdoors she collected many things in nature and created mixed media sculpture. Having lived overseas for three years, she traveled extensively throughout Asia, the Middle East and Europe. She familiarized herself with many cultures, philosophies and religions. Her sculptural work reflects this experience and her love for the mysteries and intricacies of this life and the next. Central to this work is the idea of life cycles: birth, maturation and death. Her jewelry ranges from traditional to contemporary. The infinite combinations of color and texture motivate Joliene everyday in her studio. There is always something new to share.
